The Neighbourhood Challenge is a festival, a celebration and a fundraiser for our Waterfront neighbourhoods.
Celebrating its 17th year in 2020, the Neighbourhood Challenge has grown rapidly, out of our desire to have the marathon give back to the communities we run through.
To achieve this goal, 12 local charities or groups are selected to organize a celebration at one of our Neighbourhood Cheering & Entertainment Centres along the marathon route.
Prizes are awarded to the best NCE’s based on most people, most noise, best costumes & best entertainment, as decided by our celebrity judges.
Each of the 12 neighbourhoods will have a number of Neighbourhood Champions running the half or full marathon. The Champions have been selected as regular runners and everyday local heroes.
They will run in special t-shirts, making it easy for you to cheer them on as they go the distance for your neighbourhood. You can support each Neighbourhood Champion through online pledges, which will go towards their neighbourhood charity fundraising total.
Here are two ways to support your neighbourhood:
- Pledge a Neighbourhood Champion – the easiest and guaranteed way to support your neighbourhood charity/group.
- Come out to your local Neighbourhood Cheering and Entertainment Centre on race day and make some noise. Cheer on your Neighbourhood Champions, and help your neighbourhood win some bonus money in the form of one of 5 prizes, see below.
