Join the Charity Challenge at the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon on Sunday, September 28th, 2008, and support Amnesty International!

Amnesty International is one of the largest, most respected and most effective human rights organizations in the world.

Our members — more than 2.2 million people across Canada and around the world — press governments and others with influence to protect people's freedom, dignity and fair treatment. In Canada, hundreds of Amnesty International school and community groups enable "ordinary" people to speak up for human rights. Amnesty International's power to do good depends on its political independence: funding comes from concerned individuals, not from governments.

When human rights abuses take place, Amnesty International seeks out the truth, exposes it for the world to see, then creates public pressure to stop specific abuses against specific people. Within its wide-ranging work, Amnesty International seeks to:

Looking for a way to combine your love for physical activity with your passion for human rights? To join the Amnesty Run for Rights team and pick up a registration form, contact Elena Dumitru at 416-363-9933, ext 33, or at edumitru@amnesty.ca.

Register fast, because the first 10 registrants will receive a free entry.

Additional team members can register at reduced rates of $50 to join the marathon or half-marathon, or $25 to join the 5km race.

All registrants will receive an Amnesty bib, headband and sweatband.

The registrant who fundraises the biggest amount will receive a unique prize package from Amnesty International.
