Team Aptus is back on Sunday, October 16th for the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon! We invite you to join our fellow staff, friends, community members, families and the people we support in running, walking and scooting together for people with complex disabilities! Since 1979, Aptus Treatment Centre, a non-profit charity for children and adults with complex disabilities, has been achieving potential by providing individuals with complex needs quality support through person-centred planning, and creating opportunities for greater social inclusion. High quality of life includes a focuses on health and wellness.
This year's funds will be allocated to Health and Wellness programs, for both the people we support at Aptus and Aptus staff, as well as new communication technology for our programs. This includes improved sports equipment, such as new gym mats and sports balls, and new sensory equipment that offers a variety of exploration and movement. Funds raised will also be able to provide yoga, fitness, and camp programs for the people we support and staff. Access to technology, such as iPads and other innovative technological devices, can offer multiple benefits for people with complex disabilities. These devices aid communication, build self-esteem and social skills, while helping to decrease frustration and/or isolation. We would be honoured to have you join Team Aptus! We hope you will join our staff, friends, families and the people we support as we run, walk and scoot together for children and adults with complex disabilities.
