Autism Dog Services' goal is to raise $54,000, enabling us to train, place and support three (3) certified service dogs in the homes of families with autistic children.
Autism Dog Services Inc. is a not-for-profit organization with the mission of fostering the integration of children with autism by training, placing and supporting dogs that offer safety, companionship and independence. With the support of a service dog, children achieve greater independence allowing for more effective and frequent communications and opportunities for socialization in school and community. These dogs provide an environment of safety allowing greater independence from caregivers and educators, as well as providing a calming influence and companionship. We are an approved, recognized and accredited member of Assistance Dogs International.
The cost of investing in one service dog that provides support for a child with autism is $18,000. This is raised solely by Autism Dog Services through fundraising efforts such as Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon. We currently have 49 families on the waitlist for a service dog.
