Run, Walk or Wheelchair in support of the Assaulted Women's Helpline and help end violence against women!

Join Team Assaulted Women's Helpline at this year's Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon! We will pay your entry fee with a minimum fundraising commitment! We also have amazing prizes to award our top pledge raisers!

The Assaulted Women's Helpline was created 25 years ago to help the more than 50% of women in Ontario who have experienced abuse. That woman is someone's mother, sister, daughter, friend, co-worker, lover, wife, or neighbour.

We provide crisis counselling, safety planning, emotional support, and referrals in 154 languages to more than 49,000 callers annually. This life-saving service allows women to reach out for help, free of charge, 24 hours a day, assured of their anonymity and confidentiality. We are currently the only organization in Ontario to offer our level of service to women living with abuse.

With your help we can make a difference in the lives of the women and their children living with abuse.

Having an anonymous and confidential crisis line is an essential service in a society where woman abuse is often ignored or kept behind closed doors. Due to lack of funding, as many as 50% of the women who call the line during peak periods cannot get through to speak to a counsellor. This means that thousands of women hear a busy signal when they need to hear the voice of one of our crisis line counsellors.

Sadly, the crisis line volume continues to grow year after year.

As one of our most important fundraisers of the year, please consider joining Team Assaulted Women's Helpline and help us raise awareness and the critical funds needed to make sure no call goes unanswered.

To run, walk or wheelchair for us, please contact Rebecca Ng: rng@awhl.org or 416-364-4144 x227 or visit our website at www.awhl.org.
