H.O.P.E = HEAL OVERCOME PROTECT EDUCATE
The Children's Aid Foundation wants you to join "Team HOPE" at the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon (STWM)! On October 20th, 2013, help us support victims of child abuse in Canada. Choose from one of three events — a 5km run/walk, a half marathon or a full marathon and help us raise awareness and funds for child abuse prevention in Canada.
One in 25 children in Canada needs our help. They are at risk of abuse and neglect and are currently receiving services from child welfare organizations. The Children's Aid Foundation funds life-enriching, education and abuse prevention programs which give these children skills and hope for a promising future.
We have participated annually in STWM since 2004. Run for Team HOPE to make 2013 our best fundraising year to date! Our goal is to raise $75,000 this year for abuse prevention programming and we need your support!
The 2013 Marathon falls in October 2013 which is also Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Month in Canada. CAF is a major advocate for this special month. Supporters wear 'purple for prevention' during October to help raise awareness for this critical issue. Team HOPE will wear purple and members will receive a purple race kit full of purple items to wear and some snacks to fuel your run.
This year Team HOPE will provide team members with the option to share personal race training progress through a newsfeed on our website. If you synch your blog, Facebook, Twitter accounts etc. with us, your posts will be linkable through the Team HOPE page on the CAF website.
Challenging yourself this year? Track your progress through your social media and share it with us and the Children's Aid Foundation may feature your story on our website! Blog, tweet, share your challenges and triumphs and be inspirational for others!
Want to dress up to help CAF raise awareness this year? We plan to be one of the most creatively costumed teams in the marathon. Our participants will reflect the achievements of the children and youth we support. Our organisation exists to make the dreams of these children reality, opening pathways to therapy, education and enrichment. Our kids face great adversity in their young lives and overcome obstacles. They prove to us every day that anything is possible. We hope that you will dress up as the person you wanted to be 'when you grew up'. We imagine that our team members will dress up as doctors, pilots — the sky is the limit, making our team stand out in STWM's massive crowd.
We are reaching out for partners for this year's Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon from a pool of 45 agency supporters of Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Month and the Corsage Project. Check our website regularly for partner updates as we countdown to race day! www.cafdn.org
