The Dr. Jay Children’s Grief Centre is a charitable organization focused on helping children and youth manage their grief, during and after the death of a family member. We are excited to be participating in the Scotiabank Waterfront Charity Challenge this year.
Over 40,000 children and youth in the GTA face the loss of an immediate family member each year, and we believe that no child should have to grieve alone. Our Toronto-based program is unique in offering free, specialized, one-on-one counselling for grieving children, youth and families. We currently receive 230 referrals each year and we’re building donor support in order to grow our reach and meet the needs of grieving children and families in our community. The funds raised at the Scotiabank Waterfront Charity Challenge will be used to support these free counselling services in order to build strength, resilience and hope for grieving children and youth.
