Hands Across the Nations

Hands Across the Nations (HATN) is a charitable organization committed to improving the lives of people in the poorest communities in the world, one community at a time.

HATN is 100% grass roots with no paid staff and in fact 93% of donated funds are applied directly to our projects. HATN's volunteers contribute their vacation time and pay their own airfare to travel to villages where we work with community members to address their most urgent needs for health and life sustaining necessities such as access to clean drinking water and medical care. We work shoulder to shoulder with community members in a way that not only allows for a natural transfer of skills and expertise in areas such as construction and medical aid but fosters deep friendships and long lasting bonds between the volunteers and villagers.

We currently have projects in the village of Mana in Mali, West Africa and Cochabamba and Quelkata in Bolivia. Recent successes in Mana include the completion of a health centre that provides access to basic health care that many in the community have never had before, installation of a solar power system, a water filtration system, vaccination and well-baby clinics and distribution of mosquito nets. An exhausted but ecstatic team of volunteers just returned from building a new schoolhouse in Quelkata. Quelkata is a remote village 4,120 metres above sea level that is without running water or electricity.
