Every child born to a parent with Huntington disease has a 50% chance of sharing the same fate. Passed from parent to child, this debilitating brain disorder is inevitably fatal and completely incurable — until now. In 2006, for the first time in 135 years of study, Huntington's was successfully cured in a mouse. We've never been closer to eliminating this disease. It takes about 25,000 steps to run a marathon — but each step you take with our team takes us closer to a cure, the ultimate finish line.
We're serious about success, which is why we've developed the ultimate incentive plan for our fundraisers:
The Huntington Society of Canada (HSC) is a national network of volunteers and professionals united in the fight against HD since 1973.
The HSC aspires to a world free from Huntington disease. The Society maximizes the quality of life of people living with HD by:
Specifically, the HSC is part of an international movement to find treatments to slow the progression of HD or to prevent symptoms altogether. Donations fund research in the arenas of basic science and special interest areas including symptomatic relief. Additionally, the Individual and Family Service program supports over 3,000 individuals affected by HD through information, professional education/consultation, counselling, mutual support, and referral services.

We are looking for enthusiastic runners with a philanthropic mindset to join us in our Canada-wide fundraising campaign. We are recruiting members for teamHD who will run and raise funds on our behalf. If you're looking for a corporate team building experience or simply an opportunity to run for a worthy cause, teamHD is for you!
Family is at the heart of our community. Our families and volunteers tell a powerful story of caring people who pull together to improve the quality of life for Canadians impacted by Huntington disease (HD). HD is a fatal hereditary brain disorder with devastating effects on both the mind and body. It is like having Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and Schizophrenia all at the same time. The good news is, with recent medical breakthroughs many researchers and scientists believe that once we are successful in stopping the progression of HD we will also find the answers to many other neurological diseases. Your valued support will bring us one step closer to this goal. All proceeds raised through teamHD will go to support Family Services and Research in the fight against Huntington disease.
