What a child will be depends on you and me™
In a national survey, parents have identified parenting as the most important thing they will ever do. At the same time, they also feel unsupported and vulnerable in their role as parents. They believe they lack the knowledge, skills and confidence necessary to parent effectively. In Canada, nearly 30% of our youngest children have an identifiable social, emotional or learning problem which may be due to a lack of positive parenting. Research clearly shows that being a positive parent — a loving, understanding, reasonable and protective teacher and model — plays a key role in determining how a child will grow and develop. Equally important, positive parenting helps create a lifelong warm, respectful and loving relationship between parent and child.
About Invest in Kids
Invest in Kids is a national charitable organization dedicated to helping parents become the parents they want and need to be. By translating the science of parenting and child development into engaging, easy-to-understand, relevant resources for parents and professionals, Invest in Kids aims to strengthen the parenting knowledge, skills and confidence of all those who touch the lives of our youngest children in an effort to ensure the healthy social, emotional and intellectual development of all children from birth to age five. How Can You Help?
- Take the challenge and register to WALK, RUN, or WHEELCHAIR the 5km, half-marathon, or full marathon in support of Invest in Kids. Your race entry fee will be discounted to $50 for the full or half-marathon and $25 for the 5K!
- Once you have registered for the race, sign-up on the ARTEZ online fundraising system and create your own personalized fundraising page or download a donation collection form
- Collect pledges from your family, friends, and co-workers, or you can even ask your employer to support you in your fundraising goal
- Encourage other walkers or runners to join you on Team Invest in Kids
- Show your support and pledge a member of Team Invest in Kids Together, we can help provide important resources and support to families and professionals who work with young children all across Canada to ensure that every child is given the healthy start in life that they need and deserve.
Incentives
- First 20 runners/walkers to register for the 5km, or the first 10 runners/walkers to register for the half or full marathon will receive a free race entry!
- Team members who raise $200 or more can have their race registration fee refunded.
- Donations over $5 are eligible for a tax-receipt.
- All Team Invest in Kids members will receive a free t-shirt!
