RSF programs at shelters offer an incredible opportunity for children and their caregivers to laugh and learn as they participate in interactive music sessions — it offers a brief escape from some of the hardships they live with. For shelter participants, this is an enriching and nurturing experience that helps families bond, learn, and grow together at a time when they need it the most.
Not only do participants enjoy the sessions, but research has long shown the positive impact on brain development of music training in young children. Music strengthens the brain's memory and attention capacities while developing areas of the brain that are involved in reasoning, processing language and speech. Through music, young children gain a sense of self-expression and the ability to convey emotions.
We invite you to run with us at the 2015 STWM and support RSF's music program!
