Sickle Cell Awareness Group of Ontario also known as SCAGO is not your average NGO. It started on June 14th, 2005 and has significantly contributed to the health and wellbeing of many Canadians. Recent data has shown that 75% of all Canadians living with SCD reside in Ontario. Sickle Cell Anemia is a severe genetic blood disorder that affects the red blood cells, causes pain agony, complications and death. As a result of this, there is an increase in sickle births. Currently, we provide educational outreach within the GTA; provide informative brochures, and scholarship grants. By joining us to raise funds, together we can widen our educational outreach across the province, lobby for more access to genotype testing for prevention, and support more SCD patients with our emergency grants.
