Ventures and Rovers are young men and women ages 14 to 26 years of age. They are members of Scouts Canada.
The Medical Venturer and Medical Rover programs are for youth who are interested in exploring the career opportunities related to Paramedicine. The program promotes an understanding of the operations of the Emergency Medical System and the practical skills that Paramedics and First Responders utilize in their daily work. It is built upon the traditional Scouts Canada program elements such as leadership, citizenship, community service, personal development and growth.
MedVents and MedRovers provide volunteer first aid services at Scouting and community events, participate in parades and displays at major malls and assist with public relations events which promote healthy active living.
In July of 2007, MedVents / MedRovers from across Canada, provided on site first aid services at the Canadian Jamboree, in attendance were 8000 international youth. This success has granted us the invitation to the 2013 Canadian Jamboree in Alberta, to once again, provide on site medical and first aid services.
MedVents / MedRovers about fun as well! Throughout the year, MedVents and MedRovers join together at several weekend long camping trips to not only learn and practice first aid but to meet new friends and have fun. Our most popular annual camp is the Medventuree and MedVents / MedRovers from across Canada come together to camp, play, laugh and learn.
The York Region Medical Venturer and Rover program was launched in 2001 as a partnership between Scouts Canada and The Regional Municipality of York Emergency Medical Services. York Region EMS sponsors and supports the MedVents / MedRovers by providing training space, equipment and opportunities to deploy and provide first-aid response at a variety of community events.
Your support will help us to continue growing our program, purchase new equipment and restock our first aid kits.
