Social Planning Toronto links research with community action to improve the quality of life of all residents of Toronto. Whether it's working with homeless shelters and schools to develop and share strategies to improve the education of children spending time in shelters, collaborating on community events like the new "West Won" festival in the Mount Dennis neighbourhood, or successfully advocating (with the Alliance for a Poverty-Free Toronto) at City Hall for a strategy to eliminate poverty in the city of Toronto, SPT is on the front lines of progressive social change in our city.
In 2014, SPT is working with hundreds of other non-profit community agencies to strengthen the city's support for services for youth, seniors, and other underserved groups, through the "Commitment2Community" Campaign. We are also collaborating with neighbourhood centres, other social planning groups, and many other community agencies to encourage first-time voters to participate in this year's municipal elections.
With over 200 member organizations, Social Planning Toronto is an important voice for economic and social justice in our city. For more information about SPT, go to www.socialplanningtoronto.org.
