Silent Voice is the only organization in the GTA offering community and family-based support to members of the Deaf community in American Sign Language (ASL). We provide social-recreational programs in ASL for Deaf children and their hearing siblings and we teach hearing family members the language of ASL. And, in partnership with other organizations, we offer special assistance and outreach services to disadvantaged Deaf adults living in the community. By participating in the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon, we raise funds to support our programs. Since this is a third party event, all funds raised goes directly to empower members of the Deaf community.
In 2015, we raised the highest total in Silent Voice history! We also saw the highest individual fundraising record, the highest number of runners, and the first ever volunteer participation, including Deaf community members, in staffing a water station. Having Wonder Woman volunteering at the water station was a special highlight. This year, we have raised the bar higher! The goal is $25,000 with more than 15 runners. Please join our team! You will be amazed at how much you can do to empower Deaf children, youth, and adults with your running skills.
