The Toronto Green Community is a grassroots, environmental non-profit organization. Established in 1995, the TGC's mission is to address various urban environmental concerns. Through our programs and initiatives we enhance biodiversity, expand urban greening, foster appreciation and conservation of water, and reduce waste. We believe that education and engagement, of diverse communities throughout Toronto, is the key for fostering the behavioural change required for a healthy and sustainable planet for all!
As a non-profit, The TGC is continually seeking funding opportunities, and resources that help us continue to offer environmentally focused programing to all members of our community. One of our most important community initiatives is our Eglinton Park Heritage Community Garden (EPHCG), located at 200 Eglinton Avenue West. At the garden we provide tours and workshops about organic gardening, heritage seeds, composting, season extension, insects, and local food production. In addition, the garden also plays host to our Great Garden Adventure children's program and ESL in the Garden for newcomers.
This year, to help raise much needed funds that will support the EPHCG, the TGC will be participating in the 2014 Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon — Charity Challenge. We are looking for participants to join us on October 19th to walk or run a marathon, half marathon or 5 km race. We would like to invite YOU to register under our charity page to join our team! You can collect pledges from now until October, which will directly support the EPHCG and our community. We would like to thank you in advance for joining our team, and raising funds that will help the TGC continue to thrive!
