YWCA St. Thomas-Elgin

Run to educate... Run to empower... Run for women like Emily...

Emily came to the YWCA residence because she had nowhere else to turn. She had recently given birth to her son and gave him to a local agency because she didn't feel that she had the skills, finances or housing to properly raise him. Emily desperately wanted him back but first she had to get her life in order. Emily's stay at the YWCA lasted just two months. However, those could have been the most important months of her life. She was able to take the time to get her life together for herself and her son. After leaving the YWCA Emily did get her son back and she is looking forward to a brighter future with him. Emily might not have been able to achieve this without the help of the YWCA Women's Residence.
