Relaxing after the 'Exam'

Don't forget to celebrate.

So now you need some down time if you ran the marathon or you need easy running if you did the half or 5k.

Listen to your body - if it yells, take more time off!  Hold off on that first run until the pain and stiffness subsides. You can actually injure yourself at this point so add the runs and walks gradually. Crosstrain, maybe, but at an easy pace to help blood flow.

Beyond that we have a few other suggestions.

  • Eat something you've been denying yourself. Like chocolate.
  • If you run in the two weeks following the race, be slow.
  • Do something fun and frivolous in place of your usual long run.
  • Get a massage.
  • Have an epsom salt bath.

Eat more chocolate!

Then run with passion.
Meet Your Pace Bunnies
We had 30 dedicated Pace Bunnies on race day to guide you in the full and half marathon. Hopefully many of you were able to benefit from their service.

The Canada Running Series enjoys working associations with various races that complement training for or recovery from Waterfront. Here is one of those races:

November 10, 8:30am

Don't worry, you have time to recover from Waterfront and rejuvenate for the Downsview race!

The scenic half marathon starts in renovated Downsview Park, flies you through Downsview Airport's taxiway and through some city streets. A most unique running experience!  The 5k is all in the park.

Great technical shirt, airplane medal and goodie bag!  Kids' races (plus clown and face painting) and a half marathon relay too.  Brief Remembrance Day ceremony before the 8:30am start with bagpipes and fantastic singer.  Visit the site.

   Our fantastic sponsors!
What a day!

Read more about how the Canadian All Comers' record was broken, as well as how the Canadian women's marathon record was finally beaten after twenty eight years - and not by just one athlete!

See all the race results along with some of the photos from last weekend. Keep an eye out as more will be added over the next 2 weeks. You'll soon receive notice from Marathon-Photos about the shots they took of you!

How did they do that???  How did they run in those costumes?  Whew.

See who's the top banana in costume running!

Tips from a 60-marathon plus veteran

Well done!

Congratulations everyone on your amazing accomplishment at the Waterfront race!

It was a pleasure watching all of you Sunday! Needless to say it was quite a spectacle what with all the action and records.  I was glad to meet many of you at the Expo and Friendship Run and even many at the finish line.  See you at the next one!

Finding it hard to stay on track with your training? Never done a half or full marathon and wondering how to train for it?  Check out Running Room Running clinics for any distance.
