Since 1979, Aptus Treatment Centre, a non-profit charity for children, teens, and adults with complex disabilities, has been achieving potential by providing individuals with quality support through person-centred planning and creating opportunities for greater social inclusion.
Aptus provides people who have developmental disabilities meaningful opportunities in the community to explore what matters to them. Aptus Treatment Centre supports over 200 children and adults with developmental disabilities, including those with a dual diagnosis mental health disorder.
The Scotiabank Marathon provides Aptus with the opportunity to emphasize this importance on health and well-being, and an event where our staff and the people we support can enjoy a fun-filled day of exercise and excitement together.
This years’ funds will partially be allocated to Health and Wellness programs, for both the people we support at Aptus and Aptus staff. This includes improved sports equipment, and new sensory equipment that offers a variety of exploration and movement. Funds raised will also be able to provide yoga, fitness, and camp programs for the people we support and staff.
