The 5K Kids Race entry comes with an 8-week training program focusing on kid-friendly training exercises and activities to get your little one ready for a 5K by October. This program is tailored towards kids aged 8 to 12.

  1. 8-week Training Program emailed to you weekly. Each week will include a kid-friendly video that explores a different topic related to training for a 5K.

5K Kids Race Training Program

Week 1

In Week 1, TV Fitness Personality Heather Gardner shares an overview of how the 5K Kids Program will work and what to expect over the next 8 weeks.

Week 2

In Week 2, Yoga & Mobility Coach Melissa Doldron will take you through a short, kid-friendly stretching routine to complete after your run!

Week 3

In Week 3, Coach and Elite Runner Rejean Chiasson will demonstrate some simple drills to increase speed with the help of his daughter Maxwell.

Week 4

In Week 4, Registered Dietician and 2015 Pan Am Games Marathon Bronze Medalist Rachel Hannah will share some tips on how to choose healthy foods that will make you a stronger runner.

Week 5

In Week 5, Anh Vuong-Phillpotts, National Manager of the Scotiabank Charity Challenge and her son Wyatt share why fundraising is important and how you can support a special cause while training for your 5K.

Week 6

In Week 6, Andrea Haefele and her kids Bella and Petie talk about why they love running as a family and how they stay motivated while they’re training together.

Week 7

In Week 7, we’ll hear from ultra runners April and Melanie Boultbee who will share the importance of setting goals and how you can set realistic and fun milestones to reach each week.

Week 8

In Week 8, Fitness and Lifestyle Coach Dione Mason will get us ready to run with a fun and high-energy warm-up that’s perfect to do before your 5K race!
