FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Long-term partnership with Canada Running Series will continue through 2031, building on five years of innovation, sustainability and community impact
TORONTO, ON (October 17, 2026) — Canada Running Series (CRS) is pleased to announce that Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and CRS have extended their partnership for an additional five years, with TCS continuing as the title sponsor of the TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon through 2031.
“This renewal is a tremendous vote of confidence in the TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon and in what we have built together over the past four years,” said Charlotte Brookes, Chief Executive Officer, Canada Running Series, the organization behind the TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon. “TCS has been an exceptional partner in helping us innovate, elevate the participant experience and advance our commitment to sustainability. We’re excited to continue that work together and to build an even bigger, more impactful event for Toronto and for the running community over the next five years.”
The continued partnership comes as the TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon enters another important chapter. Now in its 37th edition, the 2026 event will welcome more than 30,000 participants and more than 150,000 spectators to Toronto, with runners and supporters coming from across Canada and around the world.
With TCS continuing as title sponsor for the next five years, the TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon will continue to leverage technology and innovation to build community while creating an exceptional experience for runners, spectators and the city of Toronto.
“We are delighted to extend our partnership with Canada Running Series and the TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon for another five years,” said Manmeet Chhabra, Executive Director and Country Head, Canada, Tata Consultancy Services. “Together, we have helped establish this race as Canada’s largest and most sustainable marathon—an achievement we are incredibly proud of. We look forward to continuing to innovate the race experience and build better futures through sports.”
Since becoming title sponsor, TCS has worked closely with CRS to introduce technology and innovation to the event, while supporting its sustainability goals and helping connect participants and spectators through new digital experiences. TCS has also brought its global expertise in running and technology to Toronto, making the TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon part of a prestigious portfolio of internationally recognized TCS-sponsored running events.
The partnership has helped evolve the race experience through technology, including the TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon race app, participant and spectator engagement tools, and initiatives designed to support the event’s sustainability ambitions. TCS previously committed 32,000 person-hours to help CRS advance the marathon’s sustainability efforts.
The TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon is also a significant contributor to Toronto’s visitor economy. A 2024 economic impact study found that the event generated $50.3 million in economic activity for the City of Toronto and $56.3 million for Ontario, while attracting tens of thousands of visitors from across Canada and around the world.
The event also continues to make important contributions to charitable causes, with the TCS Charity Challenge providing participants with opportunities to raise funds and awareness for hundreds of Canadian charities. Since its inception in 2003, the program has raised more than $57 million for charitable causes, including over $1.7 million in 2025 alone.
As the 2026 TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon gets underway this race weekend, the five-year renewal marks the beginning of the next chapter in a partnership focused on using the power of running, technology and community to create lasting impact.
